Nuclear Blast are proud to announce the worldwide signing of Denver, Colorado based doomed heavy metal quartet Khemmis. Welcome to the global family!

Khemmis released their third studio album Desolation in June 2018, to rapturous praise from fans and media alike. They are currently working on new material, and are planning to tour throughout 2019.

Khemmis commented on the news: “We are honored and excited to join the Nuclear Blast roster alongside so many legendary artists. Endless thanks to Monte Conner, Mark Palmer, Yorck Eysel and the rest of the amazing team at Nuclear Blast for sharing in our vision for the future. We also send our unending gratitude to Dave Adelson of 20 Buck Spin, who not only took a chance on us when he released Absolution in 2015 but also became a true friend and brother to us over the last few years. Finally, thanks to everyone who has supported us by seeing us live, snagging a shirt, and/or picking up a CD or LP. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. We’ve got some very exciting announcements about tours, festivals, and new music coming soon. Cheers!”

Khemmis’ passion for progressive and soulful heavy music is more evident than ever in 2018’s Desolation. Though undeniably influenced by doom and classic metal, to tag the quartet with those labels doesn’t do justice to what they’ve accomplished; a perfect representation of modern heavy metal that integrates the past in a way only possible with the faculty of hindsight. It’s impossible to ignore the lengths that the four piece go to, to master their craft and produce a highly unique form of heavy sound. Their magnificently uplifting, yet sorrowful groovy riffs weave the listener along on an unparalleled journey. Desolation is not just the best Khemmis record to date but a testament to the quality and evolution that heavy metal is still capable of. Having worked for the third time with Dave Otero of Flatline Audio in Denver, the band and producer achieved a deep mutual understanding, able to arrive at the perfect symbiosis of song writing, arrangement, and production value.

Khemmis to Make European Debut at 2018 Roadburn Festival!

There has been a rumbling from out of the American Rocky Mountains for the last couple years, and it’s been coming from Colorado doomers Khemmis. After blowing minds with two records of emotionally resonant and blisteringly heavy classic doom in the making, we’re proud to welcome Khemmis to Roadburn 2018 as they make their European debut!

“Roadburn has long been a celebration of underground music and its power to unite people from around the world,” says Khemmis of making the trip. “We are incredibly honored to make our European debut at the 2018 edition alongside so many legendary artists. See you in April!”

Released by 20 Buck Spin and produced by Dave Otero – who once upon a time helmed Cephalic Carnage’s Anomalies; go find it – Khemmis’ Absolution (2015) and Hunted (2016) have quickly marked the band out as one of the most pivotal names in modern doom. With all the melodic mournfulness of classic doom at its very best and an underlying progressivism, songs like “Candlelight” and “Beyond the Door” preach forward-thinking heavy while bridging a gap to the emotionalism of some of the genres classics from bands like Anathema, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, and My Dying Bride.

“One of my favorite aspects of Roadburn year after year is being able to introduce bands to the European audience for the first time across a range of styles, and Khemmis embody this perfectly,” enthuses Roadburn artistic director Walter. “A new group with an old soul, I knew the second I heard Hunted that I wanted them for Roadburn! Absolutely epic!”

After arriving fresh off the Decibel US tour headlined by Roadburn regulars Enslaved, look for Khemmis to stun Roadburners new and jaded alike when they play Thursday, 19 April on the Het Patronaat stage. Roadburn 2018 takes place in Tilburg, the Netherlands from April 19-22, 2018.

Orange Amplifiers are pleased to welcome Denver doomed heavy metal quartet Khemmis as ambassadors. Guitarists Ben Hutcherson and Phil Pendergast are now using the Rockerverb 100 MKIII. “I was blown away by the Rockerverb I used at Psycho Las Vegas 2017,” says Hutcherson. “It delivers thick, articulate distortion and offers one of the best clean channels on a modern amp.”

Pendergast adds, “It can be difficult in a two-guitar band to blend tones while carving out space for each player. The Rockerverb makes this very easy by highlighting the differences between my p90s and Ben’s humbuckers. The first time we played as a full band after receiving the amps, our sound was fuller and punchier than ever.”

The AD200B MKIII and OBC810 now power Dan Beiers’ crushing basslines. “This amp offers everything you could want as a bass player: big, warm tone, plenty of headroom, and a unique character all around. Its straight forward controls let me dial in almost any sound, delivering clean bass and clear mids that allow me to stand out in the mix while still providing tons of low end.”

Khemmis’ newest album Hunted, released in October 2016, revealed a band fortified in its purpose and vision, forging an unrivaled synthesis between immense doom riffs and Maiden-esque harmony. Hunted received widespread critical acclaim, including year-end recognition from outlets such as Decibel Magazine (#1),Rolling Stone (#11), Apple Music, Metal Injection, and many more.

The band is slated to return to Flatline Audio with Dave Otero in January to track their third full length album, due out summer 2018 on 20 Buck Spin/Nuclear Blast. You can also catch them on the 2018 Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Enslaved, Wolves In The Throne Room, and Myrkur.

Who picked up the July issue of Decibel Magazine, which included our newest track, “Empty Throne?” We had a blast writing and recording this one-off track. Cheers to Albert and everyone at Decibel for asking us to be part of the Flexi series!
